Research and innovation
Willows Health has previously contributed to primary care research, service evaluation and innovation across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
Current status
Our dedicated research programme is currently paused while we focus on delivering direct patient care. We are no longer part of the NIHR Research Site Initiative scheme. We may occasionally take part in ad-hoc research or service evaluation projects.
Our previous research activity
Willows Health has previously supported research across a large and diverse patient population. This included work with NHS and commercial research partners and participation in primary care research studies.
Our patient population and practice footprint helped support inclusive participation in research, including participation from patients from ethnic minority backgrounds and communities with different levels of economic prosperity.
Historic achievements
These achievements reflect our past research activity.
- Achieved RSI Level 4 Leadership status.
- Received the Research Reset programme award.
- Recruited the first patient globally during AstraZeneca's TACKLE study in the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Randomised the first patient during AstraZeneca's LOGOS study.
- Maintained a seven-year relationship with the National Institute for Health and Care Research.
- In the 2023/2024 cycle, over 50% of research participants were from ethnic minority backgrounds.
Current position
We are not currently running a dedicated research programme and are not currently part of the NIHR Research Site Initiative scheme.
If we take part in future ad-hoc research or service evaluation projects, eligible patients may be contacted with information about the project and how to take part.
Taking part in research is always optional.
For patients
If you are invited to take part in a future research project, you will be given information about what the project involves, whether your information will be used, and your choices.
You do not have to take part in research. Saying no will not affect your care.
