If you are over 18 and look after someone, you may be able to ask your local council for a carer’s assessment. This looks at how caring affects your life and what support may help.

Young carers

Young carers are children or young people who help look after someone in their family who is ill, disabled, has a mental health condition or uses drugs or alcohol.

If a child or young person has caring responsibilities, please tell the practice so we can record this and signpost to support.
