Choosing your hospital or clinic

You may have more than one hospital or clinic to choose from. The options are the same whether you book online or over the phone. Before you choose, it can help to think about:

  • how long you would wait for a first appointment
  • how quickly you could start treatment
  • how far away the hospital or clinic is

In most cases you have a legal right to choose the hospital or service you go to, including private hospitals that provide NHS services. Read more about your choices in the NHS.

If you have not been referred

If you think you need to be seen at a hospital or clinic, speak to your GP first. We will help you decide what care is best for you and make any referrals you need.
